Pan-Fried Tuna Steaks Basted in Italian Butter
A healthy fish, made decadent.
Ingredients
Italian butter:
4 tablespoons butter, room temperature
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 large tuna steaks
1 teaspoon EACH salt and pepper, divided
The Recipe
Make Italian butter: In a small bowl, mash together butter, tomato paste, basil and garlic.
In a medium skillet heat olive oil over a medium heat and mix in Italian butter. When it starts to bubble, place tuna steaks in pan and season on one side with 1/2 teaspoon EACH salt and pepper. Cook for a few minutes, basting with the butter. Flip steaks, season the other side with remaining salt and pepper, and cook five more minutes, basting frequently. Flip one more time, give them a final basting. Serves 2 - 4.
