Tuscan Toast on the Grill

Thick slices of rustic Italian bread, grilled and drizzled with fine olive oil and coarse sea salt.  The perfect accompanyment to a glass of wine.  It reminds me of a salty, soft pretzel.


1 loaf Pugliese bread (or other hard-crust, rustic Italian bread), uncut

Good quality extra-virgin olive oil

Coarse sea salt

      The Recipe

Slice bread into 3/4" thick slices.  Place on hot grill.  When first side is done, flip over and drizzle with olive oil.  When second side is done flip again and drizzle with more olive oil.  Place on serving dish and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.  Figure 1 - 2 slices per person.
