Sinful Snickers Pound Cake
A decadent dessert using the world's most popular candy bar.
Ingredients
For cake:
6 Snickers bars, coarsely chopped
1 cup sour cream, divided
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For icing:
4 Snickers bars, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
The Recipe
Make cake:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour a tube cake pan (or bundt). In a double boiler, melt candy with 1/3 cup sour cream until smooth. Set aside.
In a food processor, blend butter, sugar and eggs. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Mix in remaining 2/3 cup sour cream, vanilla extract and melted candy mixture. Pour batter in pan and bake 55 - 60 minutes, or until done. Allow to cool 10 minutes before removing cake to a cooling rack.
Meanwhile, make icing: In a double boiler, place chopped candy along with butter and milk. Stir until melted and smooth. Mix in extract and powdered sugar.
Place cake on a pretty platter and spoon icing over so it runs down the sides. Allow icing to dry. Serves 12 - 16. Freezes well.
