Dominique's French Chocolate Cake

Long time French friend Dominique Blanchard shared her fantastic chocolate cake recipe with me - so rich, it doesn't need frosting.


7 ounces semi-sweet chocolate

12 tablespoons butter, room temperature

3/4 cup sugar

4 eggs

3/4 cup cake flour

      The Recipe

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.  Butter and flour a 10" round cake pan.

Melt chocolate in double boiler over hot, but not boiling water.  Allow to cool slightly.  Add butter and mix thoroughly.

Place sugar in a large bowl.  Whisk in eggs, one at a time until mixture is well incorporated.  Fold in chocolate mixture.  Bake 40-45 minutes or until done.  Allow to cool slightly before tranferring to a cake plate.  Serves 6 - 8.
