Clove-Crusted Ham Steak with Bourbon-Black Pepper Apples

A delicious pairing of ham and apples with the perfect spices.  Dinner in minutes!

      Ingredients

7 tablespoons butter, divided

1 ham steak

2 teaspoons ground cloves

3 yellow apples, sliced

3 tablespoons bourbon whiskey

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

      The Recipe

In a ham steak-sized skillet, melt 5 tablespoons butter.  Place ham in pan, dust top with 1 teaspoon cloves and turn ham to sear.  Sprinkle remaining cloves on the other side.  Flip ham to sear second side.

Meanwhile, in medium skillet, melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter.  Add apple slices and saute until apples start to get tender.  Add bourbon and black pepper and cook on high one minute, or until bourbon is almost evaporated.

Place ham on platter and top with apples.  Serves 2 - 3.
