The Great Ham Steak Challenge

Robin's version of being on 'Chopped'.  A 3 minute ham steak dinner:  Clove-crusted fried ham topped with Black Pepper-Bourbon Apples.

      Ingredients

7 tablespoons butter, divided

1 ham steak

2 teaspoons ground cloves

3 yellow apples, sliced

3 tablespoons Bourbon

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

      The Recipe

In a ham steak-sized skillet, melt 5 tablespoons butter.  Place ham steak in pan, dust top with one teaspoon cloves and turn ham to sear cloves on.  Dust the other side with remaining one teaspoon cloves and flip to sear.

Meanwhile, in a medium skillet, melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter.  Add apples and saute until apples start to get tender.  Add bourbon and black pepper and cook on high heat one minute, or until bourbon is almost evaporated.  Place ham on platter and top with apples.  Serves 2.
