Barbecued Almonds

Toasted whole almonds in a not-too spicy coating to fill the nut dish when company comes.

      Ingredients

1 tablespoon butter

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspooon ketchup

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

2 cups whole, blanched almonds

Salt to taste

      The Recipe

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.  Mix in Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and cayenne.  Stir in almonds and coat well.

Spread almonds on baking sheet.  Toast in oven 12 - 14 minutes, stirring several times to prevent burning.  Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with a little salt.  Best if eaten warm from the oven.  Store in tightly covered container at room temperature if you actually have any leftovers.  Makes 2 cups.
