EXCEEDINGLY SHORT FOOD POEMS
by Robin Benzle
GARBONZO BEANS
The sight of garbonzos in a pot or a panny,
Reminds me at once of your cute little fanny.
I LOVE YOU MORE THAN CHOCOLATE
I love you more than chocolate, I love you more than steak,
But when it comes to pesto, I have to hesitate.
LARGE FRUIT
While eating a peach by the light of a candle,
I wondered why watermelons come with no handle.
THE FAMILY COOKOUT
Forget the bun with the burnt little weenie,
Just pass me the gin and I’ll build a martini.
I THINK
I think that I shall never see
Headcheese that looks appealing to me.
THE DIET
To feel your best, simply go on a diet,
One of these decades I may have to try it.
DINING WITH MARGARET
The other day I ate chicken at Peg’s,
To me it sure tasted a lot like frogs legs.
A CONDENSED STUDY OF THE EATING
HABITS OF AMERICANS
All teens eat pizza, all grandmas eat Danish,
I’d like to go on but I’m feeling quite faintish.
THE MAN WHO LOVED LIVER
A man once yelled out, “Liver’s equisite!”,
They locked him away and I sure don’t visit.
ICE
Ice
Is tough to slice.
ODE TO REESE’S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS
Burn down my house, chop my dog into pieces
Whatever you do, just don’t eat my Reese’s.
CHEESE CAN BE BINDING
Cheese can be binding, just like a good friend
No matter what happens, it’ll stay till the end.
DOMOLDES
Some folks eat grape leaves and rice with forks,
But I’ll take the grapes in bottles with corks.
