A little sweet, a little hot, a little smoky.
2 dozen chicken wings (plus salt and pepper)
2 cups blackberries
1 1/2 cups red wine
2 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
2 teaspoons liquid smoke
Place wings on a hot grill and season with salt and pepper (or roast them in the oven).
Meanwhile, place blackberries, red wine and sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then cook on medium heat, smashing berries against the side of the pan to release juices. Allow to cook until reduced by half.
Add butter, red pepper flakes and liquid smoke to the blackberry sauce and let simmer for a few minutes.
Arrange wings on a platter and top with the blackberry sauce. Makes 24.
