Freek Brownies
HowSweetitis

When a weird Greek friend invites you over to celebrate Bastille Day (French Independence Day – July 14th), you bring something weird.  French-Greek brownies feature Grand Marnier liqueur and feta cheese.  I think it’s a first.

Ingredients:

1 package brownie mix (I used chewy-style)
1 egg
½ cup Grand Marnier orange liqueur*
¾ cup coarsely crumbled feta cheese
Preheat oven, prepare a 9” x 13” baking pan, and in a large bowl, mix together by hand brownie mix

Recipe:

Preheat oven, prepare a 9” x 13” baking pan, and in a large bowl, mix together by hand brownie mix according to package instructions.
To that mixture, stir in one egg and Grand Marnier.  Gently fold in feta cheese.
Spoon mixture into prepared pan and bake 25 – 28 minutes, or until done.  Allow to cool before cutting and serving.
*Grand Marnier is expensive, but you can buy a cheaper version called Harlequin Orange Liqueur (also from France), which runs about $20 a bottle.
