The Classic French Lace Cookie, enhanced with white chocolate and sprinkles. And an unforgettable visit from Santa.
1 cup flour
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 stick butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 cup white chocolate chips
White sprinkles
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Butter 2 or 3 baking sheets.
In a small bowl, combine flour and walnuts. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan, melt butter. Add syrup and brown sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in flour mixture. Let cool one minute.
Drop level tablespoons of batter 3 inches apart on buttered cookie sheets. Bake about 5 minutes, or until cookies and golden around the edges. Let stand about a minute until firm enough to handle. Loosen with a spatula, then allow to cool on racks.
Melt white chocolate in a double boiler (Note: If it's a little too thick to spread easily, add a little vegetable oil until it's the right consistency). Brush cookie tops with white chocolate and add sprinkles. Makes about 30.
