It took years of practice, but I think I’ve got the best Irish Coffee recipe around.
¼ cup heavy whipping cream
1/3 cup hot, strong coffee
1 ½ teaspoons dark brown sugar (+ some for top)
1 ½ shots Jameson Irish whiskey
For each mug full: In small, deep bowl, with electric beaters, beat cream until very soft peaks form (you just want enough air in it to float on top of the coffee). Do not sweeten with sugar. Set aside.
Pour coffee in good-sized mug (I make 1 ½ strength). Dissolve sugar in coffee. Stir in whiskey. Top off generously with soft whipped cream. Sprinkle top with brown sugar.
When you take a sip, the sweet, strong, boozy coffee filters through the smooth, mellow cream….Ahhhh-hh.
Fun fact: Jameson Irish Whiskey was first produced in 1780. It was founded by a Scotsman and is currently owned by a French company.
