Includes everything he loved: Steak, Cheddar cheese, chili peppers, Brandy and Tootsie Rolls.
For steak fries:
2 sirloin steaks, cut into 1/2" thick strips
2/3 cup flour
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons pepper
1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
Vegetable oil for frying
For the frittata:
Olive oil
1 onion, chopped
3 - 4 chili peppers, diced
3 tablespoons butter
6 large eggs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon EACH salt and pepper
2 cups grated sharp Cheddar cheese
2 medium tomatoes, diced
Coffee and brandy
Tootsie Rolls
Mix together flour, salt, pepper and garlic in medium bowl. In a large, oven-proof skillet, heat about 1/2" of vegetable oil. Dredge steak pieces into flour mixture and fry in oil until browned (about 7 minutes). Drain on paper-towel lined baking sheet and keep warm in low oven.
Make frittata: Discard vegetable oil and add a splash of olive oil. Saute onion and peppers until tender. Remove to a bowl. Add butter to same skillet. Add eggs and cook over medium flame until bottom is set. Sprinkle on onion-pepper mixture, Cheddar cheese and tomatoes. Place under broiler until cheese melts. Serve a slice of frittata with steak fries, a splash of brandy in your coffee, and some Tootsie Rolls for dessert. Serves 4.
