Hot Buttered Walnuts

An addicting nibble to have with a beer or a glass of wine.  (Two secret ingredients make it special).


2 tablespoons butter

2 - 2 1/2 cups unsalted walnut halves

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon brown sugar

1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper


Melt butter in a medium skillet.  Saute walnuts until lightly browned, adding salt as they cook.  Sprinkle in brown sugar and cayenne, mix well and serve warm.  Notes:  I make small batches so they'll stay nice and warm (although you can microwave them if you need to).  Also works well with cashews and pecans.
