A daring ham glaze that wakes up every tastebud in your mouth; salty ham, sweet cherry jam and fiery horseradish.
6 - 8 ob. semi-boneless cooked ham half
1/2 cup cherry jelly or jam
1/4 cup red wine
3 tablespoons good jarred horseradish
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon coarse black pepper
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Prepare ham by making several long slits lengthwise down the jam, about 1/2" deep. Place in a large roasting pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together remaining ingredients (it's okay if it's a little lumpy). Brush about 1/3 of the glaze on the ham. Bake 1 1/2 hours, uncovered, basting several more time with the rest of the glaze. Let rest 15 minutes and carve away.
