Baking powder biscuits that look like rocks.
2 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 stick cold butter (8 tablespoons)
3/4 cup milk
21 drops red food coloring
18 drops blue food coloring
9 drops yellow food coloring
2 drops green food coloring
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
In a medium bowl, mix together flour, baking powder salt and sugar. Cut butter into small pieces and with two knives, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it looks crumbly (sometimes I use my hands). Pour milk in and stir with fork until blended. Add food coloring and blend until a lovely gray (sometimes I use my hands). Lightly butter a baking pan and place about one tablespoon's worth of dough for each 'rock'. Bake ten minutes. Makes about 15.
