Sweet Hawaiian Rolls with a crunchy Walnut Panko crust.
1 package Hawaiian dinner rolls (9 total)
3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts
1 cup Panko bread crumbs
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
Vegetable oil for frying
Separate rolls. In a medium bowl, combine walnuts, bread crumbs, cayenne and salt. In a small bowl, beat eggs.
Heat about 1/2" oil in skillet until it passes the sizzle test. Dip each roll in egg, then walnut mixture and fry until lightly browned, turning once (this will only take a few seconds). Do only two rolls at a time, so they don't burn. Remove to a paper-towel lined pan. Serve warm. Notes: You can make them ahead of time and warm them in a 350 degreee F. oven for a few minutes. Also, (as usual), I made too much breading mixture, so if you have a banana, coat it in the egg and the breading and fry that up.
