Candy Apple Apple Candy

Dried apple rings with a crunchy cinnamon coating.


Parchment paper + butter

6 ounces dried apple rings

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 1/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

1/3 cup light corn syrup

1/2 teaspoon red food coloring


Line a baking sheet with parchment.  Butter the parchment (or use cooking spray).  Arrange apple rings on pan, close together.

In a medium saucepan, mix together sugar, water, corn syrup and food coloring.  Bring to a boil over medium heat and let cook 10 15 minutes, or until it reaches the hardball stage on a candy thermometer (300 degrees F.).  Pour over apple rings.  Allow to harden 15-20 minutes.  Break apart and put on a pretty plate.
